Marketing has always been a tricky business. You can ask 50 different business owners what marketing is for and get 50 different answers. For most business owners marketing is a black hole of funding, they throw a huge amount of cash at it… and have no guarantees about the return.
AJG Direct is changing that model and that perception.

How the business works
One of the biggest costs of business is acquiring new customers this is known as CPA (cost per acquisition). Businesses spend billions of pounds on making sure that they get can get as many new customers as cheaply as possible.
As I mentioned in the introduction, getting new customers is massively expensive for businesses primarily because they take the “shotgun” approach to marketing and CPA. For example, “traditional” marketing is based on having as many people see your logo as possible.
This is why the sport’s industry is flooded with logos, brand sponsorships, and advertising. The huge viewing figures attract businesses praying that someone (like you) will see their logo and think “what’s that” and sign up to use their product.
We don’t do that. Instead of getting businesses to pray for results, we guarantee them. We operate on a fixed CPA. This means that huge brands will come to us and say “We need x new customers” and we give them an exact price of how much that many new customers will cost them.
Take Hello Fresh for example. They sell subscriptions on food boxes with recipes that you can make at home. They spent a tonne on sponsoring sports teams, and getting there name and logo splashed across billboards.
However, this method didn’t ensure that Hello Fresh were on-boarding new customers. Instead they directly marketed to potential customers, surprisingly, by talking to them. By setting up small events in places with high people traffic, they connected directly with their customers and got a tonne of new, excited customers. Not only did they get new customers, but they created the brand awareness as people became familiar with their brand.
